Weekend Results

The Pee Wee’s hoisted the second place trophy in tournament action this past week-end playing in Park Falls. Action started on Saturday against Medford when they jumped out to a three goal lead on two scores by Colton Lewens on assists by Matt Hrebik and a Dylan Kohlbeck score on an assist by Ty Tretter. After Medford got on the board, Hrebik and Tretter each got unassisted goals and Kohlbeck would add one on a Lewens assist for the 6-2 victory. Zack Bednar had 24 saves in the first two periods and Nick Woodard, still sporting stitches from last week, got seven in period three.

Mosinee then took on host Park Falls in a thriller. Hrebik would score twice in the second period on assists by Kohlbeck and Tretter and a defensive effort led by Bednar’s 24 saves with help from Sam Swiderski, Grant Lindell, Jeremy Falstad, Josh Brod and Spencer Schmirler held Park Falls to one goal for an exciting 2-1 Mosinee win.

In probably Mosinee’s best game of the year, Colton Lewens got a hat trick, Hrebik the playmaker for assists and the defense put in another strong effort as they defeated Hayward 3-2 on Sunday morning putting them in the Championship game. Bednar has 17 saves.

Mosinee put in a strong effort in the Championship game but state-bound Iron Mountain MI scored in periods one and two and Mosinee could not get on the board.  Mosinee ran out of gas late as Iron Mountain scored three times in the last four minutes for the 5-0 win.  Bednar had 28 saves in the loss.
